1861. This is considered to be the most elaborately illustrated of surgical manuals published during the Civil War, containing 88 superb plates depicting operations and surgical instruments. This edition was edited with notes and additions and adapted to the use of American Medical Students by William H. Van Buren and Charles E. Issacs.
