The pigeon

A Paris bank guard, with only five payments on the mortgage for his tiny attic room left, and his life's plan laid out ahead of him, opens his door one morning to find a pigeon on the landing. The crisis this engenders and the touching resolution that follows make this novella wonderfully comic and tender.
