Captains of the City Streets: A Story of the Cat Club

Two traveling buddies and tough street cats, Sinbad and the Duke, slowly become involved in the exciting affairs of the Cat Club, a group of pet cats. Longing for a home of their own where they can nap and box to their heart's content, the two discover it in New York City's glorious Greenwich Village, an oddly cat-free neighborhood. Soon, they happen upon mysterious nighttime meetings of indoor cats. Though initially disdainful of rules and regulations, Sinbad and the Duke can't help but be intrigued. Accompanied by nostalgic B&W line drawings, this quiet adventure story is one of the several in the Jenny's Cat Club series.
