Crop and Livestock Technologies for the 21st Century: RCA III Symposium

In 1995, a symposium with 100 national specialists, scientists, and researchers was held to deliberate on crop and livestock technologies for the next 50 years. Their findings are summarized in this book. The five most important technologies identified in the book include genetic engineering, improved system efficiencies, education and information delivery to enhance technology transfer, livestock gene alteration to reduce demand on resources while increasing output, and crop breeding for productivity and stress tolerance. These technologies, when combined with others, have the potential to more than double corn, soybean, wheat, cotton, rice, and sunflower yields in the next 50 years.
